In 2008 the MDSG made a £12,000 contribution to assist Dr. Jeremy Rhodes, and his team at the University of East Anglia, in researching "The Role of Anti-viral Defence Pathways in Myotonic Dystrophy".
In 2009 the resourcing of the project was in jeopardy due to lack of funding for a key PhD graduate who had studied Myotonic Dystrophy for the previous 4 years. This would have either curtailed, or severely delayed completion.
Fortunately, the MDSG has been able to step in with a grant of £7,900 to keep the project alive.
