Anne Bodo of Sedgefield spent an enjoyable morning in North Tees Hospital in October being examined by a group of third year medical students. Fifteen students interviewed and examined Anne, and one student was correct in diagnosing that Anne had Myotonic Dystrophy.
It is common for training hospitals throughout the country to allow trainee doctors the chance to examine people with real conditions and illnesses. It is vitally important that people with Myotonic Dystrophy are allowed to take part in this educational process. By giving students some exposure to Myotonic Dystrophy it can only help in their future careers to diagnose people with the condition.
